James Patterson writes so many books and I try to read as many as I can. My favorite series by him is the Michael Bennett novels. I look forward to every new one. His latest is title Ambush and uses story from previous novels to drive this one. It involves the drug cartels and something he did in a previous book.
Michael has a new rookie partner and they are on a stakeout haven’t gotten a tip. It turns out to be a setup and a shootout takes place and Michael loses his partner and is injured as well. He will survive but gets word that his son Brian was stabbed in prison (he was sentenced for drug dealing). He will survive as well.
Michael is put on a desk assignment to look into the rash of killings lately involving drug cartel members from Canada and Mexico. A mysterious hit woman has been in town taking care of business and Michael is her target. Michael starts putting the pieces together about the murders and learns that he is a target.
He soon learns why and has to go on the offensive to try and find this woman before it’s too late. She has learned about Michael’s family and that his daughter is acting and is in Brooklyn and devices a plan to use her to draw out Michael. It leads to a climatic showdown that will leave people dead.
Another thrilling story of the life of a cop, his family of 10 kids, his Grandfather and his finance. This stories are always good and full of action and also very easy to read. Short chapters with no useless filler. I always look forward to these books and reading about them like they’re old friends.
You can pick up Ambush by James Patterson and James O. Born in stores on Tuesday, October 9th from Little Brown.
