Annie Bustamante has down it all, she drew comics, is an author and is an Oscar-nominated director. She’s had highs and lows, and now is on the low end of things. Her real desire is to one day re-launch her favorite comic, the Lethal Lynx, a short-lived comic in the 70’s. She has even been writing and drawing the character in her spare time. Then she gets a call from Bert Carlyle, the son of the original owner of the company that owns the Lynx, the company is being reborn, and he wants her to help relaunch the character. She’s shocked and agrees to a meeting, along with a bunch of conditions. This guy seems shady and she is not sure, but agrees to the deal. Things start to go south fast, she questions whether he even owns the rights to the character, a mysterious person is texting her with warnings, she asks too many questions, and soon finds her life in danger. A shocking reveal is made to a connection to the original comic, and to get the answers she needs, she must find the woman who helped create the character in the first place, while staying alive. This is a sequel to the awesome first novel, Secret Identity. It reads as a stand-alone so it’s not a problem to read, but I do highly recommend the first book as well. Author Alex Segura is a great writer, and this continues his streak of good novels, with plenty of twists, this one keeps you reading along.
