Lindy West is a comedian and a writer who had a bestselling novel, Shrill, a few years ago, which became a Hulu series for a couple of years. In this book, Lindy writes about her marriage, how it is polyamorous, and her husband found another woman, which shocked her. Feeling her life was not going the way she wanted, she decided to take a trip from Seattle to Key West, she was actually looking for Kokomo, based on the Beach Boys’ song, which doesn’t exist. She rented a camper and went on her way. We follow her along on her journey as she talks about everything, being a heavy woman, dealing with her marriage, being a public figure and everything that happens to her on this trip. It’s a heartful memoir, where she is brutally honest, and has a great sense of humor, and it shows. She has unique takes on many topics, including taking showers, which she doesn’t like to do. As celebrity biographies go, this is a good one.
