When Drew was 15, he did something bad and got away with it. Now, 21 years later, he is married to Peggy, and have a son who is 14, Samson, and they live on a boat in the canal. Drew works during the day and writes at night, thinking he will have a bestselling novel. Pegge volunteers at the library during the day, and is writing a novel, and Samson is in school and bullied every day. Life on the boat is not good Drew is a dick to them, and everything has to be done his way. He treats Peggy like crap and is not nice to Samson. As the days and weeks go on, Peggy seems to be losing her mind, and is gaslighting Peggy to the point she has to be put in a hospital. When she finally figures out what’s going on, she makes a plan to try and escape him, and it leads to a deadly showdown. This is an intense, well-written novel that, at times, is hard to read, yet you do not want to put it down. One of the best books of the year. Author Will Dean has done it again!
