Lalla Rock is married and has two children, and she wants more for her life. She wants her husband to become a partner in his firm so they can have lots more money and buy a mansion they cannot afford. She wants her six-year-old menace of a daughter to get into a prestigious school, and she wants another baby. These are things she wants what she needs to do is clean up the messes she has going on. She has killed a man in her living room, she has killed another man and set fire to the house he was in, she has a secret past, and her first husband, who she thought was dead, is back and very much alive. She has a meddlesome mother-in-law who wants her out of her son’s life, and she turns on her friends at the drop of a hat. Lalla will do what she needs to do to have things her own way, and whoever she has to trample over to do it, she will. You do not want to mess with Lalla. This is an awesome, well-written story, with a character you should hate and want bad things to happen to, yet you root for her with everything she does. A dark comedy/slasher thriller/drama you have you reading along. This is one of those books you do not want to put down. It’s no wonder Hulu has snapped up TV rights for this novel. A perfect debut book.
