Book Review: ‘A Shoe Story: A Novel’ By Jane L. Rosen

Esme Nash had it all planned out seven years ago. She and Liam were in love and getting an apartment together in New York and she had a job lined up in an art gallery. And she had just gotten another pair of shoes (she loves shoes) from her mother. Then that phone call that changed everything. She lost Liam and her job. Now seven years later she gets to New York City to dog sit for Elvis for a month, while her owner goes to rehab. At the apartment she finds a closet full of shoes (one to rival Carrie from Sex and the City) and starts wearing them. Along the way she meets new friends (including an old man named Sy) and sees Liam after seven years. She also meets a new man, Zach and they may be falling for each other. In order to move forward, she must put the past behind her and she has one month to do it and the closet full of shoes helps out). A beautifully written story about putting the past behind and moving along. The friendships, especially Sy, are moving and heart-warming to read. A great beach read.

You can pick up A Shoe Story in stores on Tuesday, June 28th from Berkley.
