Peter Greene was a financial analyst until he lost his job and is now a stay-at- home husband taking care of his son Luke. The family has moved to a beach town outside the city and when not watching Peter, he’s usually on the water surfing with his friend Frank. Then the body of Robert Townsend is found washed up on the beach, Peter knew him, and something about his death doesn’t seem right, and he starts investigating while dealing with the day-to-day activities of his son, school moms and a nagging, controlling wife. Someone doesn’t want his looking into this death, he’s followed, beaten up, but will not give up. When he finally learns the shocking truth, he’s gutted and has to figure out what to do with the information he has. This is an intense, character-driven, psychological thriller. The character of Peter is fascinating on so many levels, you don’t know what he wants out of life. When the truth is revealed, it’s quite the twist, I didn’t see it coming. A solid debut novel from author Garonzik.
