Columbia Mansions is a ritzy apartment building that barely has any openings. As the book starts, someone calls the police to tell them a murder has taken place. When Alec, who was in a band that had one hit, rents a room to Pixie, a young girl, neighbor Gwen is happy. The girl is like a breath of fresh air in the complex. Gwen soon finds out that Pixie is not paying rent, but giving Alex sex, and this upsets Gwen. These three are on a collision course, and when someone is murdered, it raises the stakes in the building. This is another sharp, fun novel that only Louise Candlish can write. The story, the characters, and the tension are all top-notch. Fans of her previous novels will enjoy this one.
