Ethan Brand is the police chief in the small town of Blaine, Washington, and he’s looking to buy a horse from horse trainer Mac Steranko. He has his second in command, Brenda Lee Page, is with him when she falls down a hole and she finds a dead body in an underground tunnel. It looks like this man has been dead for a long time. The ID on the man is Tyler Rash, an old friend of Ethan’s, from years ago, and hasn’t been seen in years. He gives the case to Brenda, and the search is on to identify the body and try and figure out who killed him. Someone doesn’t want him getting too close, and sends a bomb to Ethan’s house, which he is able to notice, and get it defused. He finally figures things out, and it leads to a shocking reveal, and his life in danger. This is the second book in the series, and it’s a good one. I didn’t read the first one, and really enjoyed this one. The characters are well-written, and the story is engaging.
