Sugar Blitz Cupcakes, in San Diego, is the setting for this second novel in the series. August Hodges is co-owner, along with Donovan and Nicholas, who all play on the San Diego Pro football team as well. Business is great at their location, with plans to open a second location, where some neighbors are upset about it. Their social media lacks, and along comes Donovan’s sister, Sloane, who quit her social media job, after not getting a promotion. She agrees to help out for a few weeks, as part of a bigger job she has applied for. She also has a history with August, she was in love with him years ago, when she was a teenager, but nothing ever came of it. Now there’s an attraction between the two of them, who both have issues, and soon it becomes too much, and they have hot sex (some steamy scenes). They have to figure out what it is they want from each other going forward. This is a great follow-up to the first book, with two characters you root for to be together. One of the better rom-coms of the year.
