The year is 1923 and in London, there’s a piece between humans and dragons, and has been for a long time now. Things are changing and now dragons are soaring and protests over class (they’re are three classes) are taking place. Vivien Featherswallow is studying to be a Draconic translator and hopes to get her sister out of being in the third class, Viv is currently in the second class. Then her family is arrested and accused of being part of the resistance, it’s up to her to try and get them freed. When she makes a deal with, Chumana, an imprisoned dragon, to help her clear her family, it sets off a civil war, and Viv figures out there’s a lot more going on than anyone knows and it’s up to her to stop what is in motion now, before it’s too late. This is author Williamson’s debut novel and it’s great. Fans of dragons, wars and sci-fi elements will enjoy this one a lot.
