The fiction debut from author Bissonnette is really good. The two main characters are a lot of fun and the Hollywood nostalgia and pop-culture references are great and bring back memories for the reader. Cindy Cooper and Jay Allen were soap opera stars years ago, were married and then divorced when they both admitted they were gay. Now 20 years later they’re best friends, live in Palm Springs and own a store, Horray For Hollywood, a memorabilia store, that is struggling. Then they get a request for a metting with an old-time Hollywood actress, Yana Tosh, that wants to sell her collection. They’re competing with a big-time company, Cypress Collections, to sell the collection. After meeting with Dylan Redmond of Cypress, he’s found dead and Cindy and Jay are considered suspects. They don’t take this lightly and decide to investigate themselves what happened to Dylan, especially after getting an envelope of poison left for them in their mailbox. Their investigation leads them to a shocking reveal and maybe hope for their business. I really liked this book and hope for more adventures with Cindy and Jay.
