You may not know the name, Arthur Barry, but after reading this terrific true-crime book, you will, He was one of the biggest jewel thieves in history. He would stake out the mansions of the rich and famous in the ’20s, break in and steal as much as he could. sometimes only staying three minutes, before making his escape. He would fence it and become rich, by some estimates, he stole almost $60 million (by today’s standards). He also made himself a man of society and hit parties, took the Prince of Wales out for a night on the town in Manhattan, and became friends with Houdini, all the while on the lookout for his next heist. Furthermore, he made a lot of money, and could have easily lived a lavish lifestyle, but spent it as fast as he made it. Even though he was a thief, by all accounts he was a nice thief. He even served in WWI, came home started stealing again, and got caught and this is his story. Author Dean Jobb has written a book you will not want to put down.
