The year is 1957 and Queen Elizabeth is on a state visit to Paris, when strange things happen and she thinks someone in her home office is out to get her. Then there is a double murder in London and Prince Philip is linked to it. Having no one to trust in her inner circle, the Queen promotes Joan McGraw, a typist in the secretary pool, to an assistant, and recruits her to help uncover what is going on with her husband and if someone is out to get her. Joan is smart and quick and they make a great team and Joan reports directly to her and together they will work together to discover the truth of who is after her and how Philip is involved. This is the fourth novel in this series, my first time reading one, and I loved it. Picturing the Queen like this is a lot of fun. I can only imagine she was really like this. Fans of this series or new fans, having read the previous books is not necessary, will enjoy this one.
