Hawthorne and Horowitz have sold their novel, The World Is Murder, much to the chagrin of Horowitz. He doesn’t like the terms and doesn’t think it will come out any good. Three weeks into the filming, the actor, David Caine, who is playing Hawthorne, is murdered on set, a knife to his throat. The police ask both men to help solve the murder, since it was based on their book, and their past experience. As they investigate, they find secrets about various cast and crew members, a secret romance years ago, and an agent who was recently fired. Could the murderer have meant to kill the real Hawthorne? We follow them along as they look for the killer, hoping they can find the person fast before it’s too late for anyone else. Another great novel from author Horowitz, who never disappoints with these novels. The sharp, snappy dialogue, his trademark, is great here. The behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, from the selling of the rights, to the screenplay, to the filming, is top-notch behind the scenes information. Fans of these novels will enjoy this one.
