Rhonda and Baby (real name is Barbara) found out they were half-sisters when their father died. Rhonda is now the guardian of Baby and they have taken over their father’s private investigation business. When Troy Hansen, who is accused of murdering his wife, who is missing, shows up asking for help, Rhonda is skeptical but agrees to hear him out. Baby is working her own case when an older man named Arthur is being harrassed to sell his property to developers. As they investigate on behalf of Troy, they find he has lied or not told the truth about things and then his wife’s body is found by Troy, and he’s arrested. As Baby works her case and ends up getting the upper hand, Rhonda has figured out what happened with Troy’s wife and finds her life in danger. This is the second novel in the series (and 1st time in print) and it’s another great novel from author Patterson, who this time teams with author Candace Fox. The relationship between the sisters is intense, with Baby being quite the character. The story has twists and turns that keep you engaged and a shocking death will have you reaching for tissues. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
