Carter Cohen wakes up thinking he is 17, but is actually 16 again for the sixth year in a row. For some reason, he is cursed with being 16 while the world around him moves on. His younger brother is now older than him and in college. His parents have aged. It’s time for him to go back to school again in the same classes he has been taken, make new friends, reconnect with old friends he doesn’t know, and try to figure out why this is happening to him. Then there is Maggie, the girl he fell in love with and who loved him back. Everyone tries to keep it a secret, but secrets have a way of leaking out, and there’s quite a few that Carter will learn on his journey to his next birthday, hoping that when everything has been revealed, he might just end this loop. This is an intense read about a man who should be in college, in love and enjoying his life. Following him throughout the year is something that you will want to keep reading along with. This is the first good book of 2026.
