It’s 1932, and 1933 is fast approaching. Poirot and his close friend, Scotland Yard inspector Edward Catchpool, are on the small Greek island of Lamperos to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to investigate a potential murder. The island is the home to a religious group that believes that everyone and everything can be forgiven. On New Year’s Eve, they’re playing a game where everyone writes their resolutions and they are read out loud, and then they try to figure out who wrote them. When one threatens the life of Matthew, one of the residents, the game ends. When he dies shortly after, Poirot and Catchpool are on the hunt for a killer, and then a second murder takes place. Poirot is determined to find the killer or killers and solve this case before any more harm comes to anyone. This is the sixth book the author Sophie Hannah has written and it’s another brilliant novel. She has the spirit of Agatha and each of these books gets better and better.
