Avila Rogers left Charleston 13 years ago, pregnant and with no help from her mother. She moved to New Jersey and has been working hard to make a good life for her daughter, Ebony. She gets word that her mother has died and now she needs to return to the place she hasn’t been in all these years to put her mother’s house on the market. She’s got a lot of ghosts to deal with, including Terence, the man she left behind years ago. He’s now a Professor at the nearby college. He spots her at the house and comes over to help her with ever she may need. He still loves her after all these years, gets close to Ebony and wants more with Avila, who isn’t ready to open her heart and has plans to move back to Jersey. He tries to convince her he wants to be there for her and Ebony and he has his work cut out to win her heart. This is a good southern rom-com, with characters you root for and want to be together. A solid debut novel from author Williams.
