Emily Boylan lives in the Boston area, and just lost her job after two years. As she’s walking down the street, a woman approaches her and asks her if she wants to try out for The One, a popular dating show (like the Bachelor) as a contestant. She figures sure why not, and is picked as the last contestant. Four days later she’s taping, and meeting Dylan, who she doesn’t think she would fall in love with. She’s doing it to kill time until her next job. Her main support system on the show is Miranda, one of the producers, who wants her to win, and is doing everything she can to get Emily as the winner. We follow along as the show tapes, learn behind the scenes how this kind of show is actually filmed, as Emily tries to figure out who she really is. Will she find love or find herself, or both? This is a fun debut novel from Argy. Fans of reality dating shows will really like this one. Fun characters, some lol moments, and a fun spin on the reality dating craze that has taken over TV. Can’t wait to see what Julia Argy comes up with next.

You can pick up The One in stores on Tuesday, April 18th from Putnam.
