Review by Caitlin Zeigler

Jesse Peterson (Max MacKenzie) is best friends with Sarah Morin (Katerina Eichenberger) and he confides in her that he wants to end his life. His mother ended her life when he was six and he grew up with his abusive, disabled and alcoholic father, Rick (William Galatis). Rick never acted like he cared about Jesse because he was so angry at his wife for taking her life. Sarah tries her best to do everything in her power to stop Jesse from following through. Jesse was also getting bullied at school and he decided to stand up for himself, but he still planned on following through with his plans. When Jesse receives some good news that makes him think about not ending his life, Sarah is happy to have her best friend back. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worst.

This film has a good plot, but the acting is a little bit hit and miss. It’s dramatic and very sad. You think there is a triumph, but there is pain, sadness and grief. It shows what would realistically happen in this situation. I thought it was a little odd that the film was more from the perspective of Sarah than Jesse, but it still worked. If you want to see something that’s going to make you upset and sad, this is it. You know there are resources that can be utilized and you think it’s so easy to get help, but it’s different for everyone. Watch it if you can handle this pain and watch or do something fun right after.
