Book Review: ‘The Neighborhood: A Novel’ By Matthew Betley

I am a fan of author Matthew Betley Logan West series and now he’s back with a stand-along (or maybe new series) and the novel is Great. It’s all action from the start and takes the reader on quite the ride, with characters that your really root for and one of the best new characters of the year in Zack Chambers, who just kicks-ass! The neighborhood is Hidden Ridge, an upscale, rich place, where families live in large houses and have lots of land. On this evening kids are our riding bikes, parents are getting dinner ready and the Amazon driver is casing the neighborhood. Somethings about to go down and he’s doing recon. Something is in the nerighborhood that is of a lot of value to someone and that person is paying a lot of money to get it back. A plan is devised and in the wee hours, men posed as police officers will evacuate the area and search all houses. It’s a pretty cut and dry plan. But the bad guys didn’t count on Zack Chambers and his secret hidden past as an ex-CIA trained killer, a teenage girl who babysites for Zack, who was taught how to use a gun by her father and Zack’s military trained brother and a handful of neighbors, it turns into a fight for the ages to save the Neighbors and take down the bad guys. Once you start reading you won’t want to stop. One of the top-action thrillers of the year.
