The novel is set in West London, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. Gemma Doyle half-owns the Sherlock Holmes Bookstore and Emporium at 222 Baker Street. Her best friend, Jayne Wilson, owns Mrs. Hudson’s tea room, which is right next door to her. Jayne, who is getting married in a week, is also celebrating her birthday, and Andy, her soon-to-be husband and chef, is throwing her a party at his restaurant. When Gemma arrives at the party, she notices Robbie, a waiter, is also Jayne’s ex-boyfriend, and is surprised to see him. Also at the party is a gate-crasher, Tina, who is Andy’s ex-girlfriend, who later turns up dead in the water behind the restaurant. Detective Louisa Estrada shows up and isn’t surprised that Gemma is involved with another murder; she doesn’t really like Gemma. When Andy becomes a prime suspect, Gemma decides to investigate on her own, in order to clear him, and make sure the wedding goes off as planned. This is the 11th novel in the series, and another good one. This series is one of my favorites, and author Vikci Delaney never disappoints with it. Gemma is a fun character, and the supporting cast adds a lot to every novel. Longtime fans will enjoy this.
