Nia Adams is the first black Texas Ranger in the year 2004 and she’s assigned to a case of a bank robbery, in one of the oldest banks in Texas. No money is stolen, and a small safe is broken into by master-thief Desmond Bell, stealing documents that would incriminate a powerful Texas family. He works for a secret organization, that steals stuff from the rich and uses the stuff they get to blackmail them. Nia is hot on the trail of Desmond, after a security guard confesses to helping him, and then his family is killed. Katz is also after Desmond, wanting the documents back, and will stop at nothing, including murder to get them. It becomes a game of cat and mouse between the three, with lots of bodies piling up and a climatic, intense finale, and a shocking twist ending. This is the first novel by the famous rapper and actor, and it’s a thrill-ride of a novel, that you will not want to put down. As debut fiction novels go, this is a winner.
