Martin Gilmour and Ben Fitzmaurice were childhood friends, and both went to school at Cambridge University. One fateful night, a tragic accident took place, Ben was driving drunk and killed a classmate. Martin took the blame for his friend, and it was all hushed up with money from Ben’s family. Years later, Martin, who is in his 40s and still guilty over what happened all those years ago. Ben has moved on and is considering a run for Britain’s Prime Minister, and tries to hide anything to do with Martin. When Ben’s sister dies, he is invited to the funeral by Ben’s wife, and he sees how things have gone over the years, and opens up a can of worms involving the two and others, who would like nothing better than to see Ben fail. This is a twisty, fun revenge novel, with characters from Day’s 2017 novel, The Party. This is one you will not want to put down.
