Gustave Eiffel is known for building bridges and the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, but the true backbone of his business ended up being his fourteen year old daughter Claire after her mother died. Claire became the woman of the house, the mother of her young siblings, and the right hand of Gustave at his business. She would go on trips with him, wine and dine with his business, and it wasn’t until he got a young protégé named Adolphe, that things changed. She became jealous of him, until things changed, and she married him and had his kids, and it leads to her father getting the job of building the tower. When her father is arrested after helping build part of the Panama Canal, Claire will stop at nothing to get him freed. This is her story, and what a story it is. She was a strong woman, thrust into a world she never knew about and took charge. This is a great historical fiction novel, and I learned a lot that I never knew before. Fans of this genre will love this one.
