Clara Davenport works for her father at Davenport Innovation Creative, a toy business. She hopes to be in line for a top position once someone retires. Her father is ruthless, dishonest and at times a jerk. When a scandal breaks about the company stealing a doll design from the small town of Fraser Falls, where videos have gone viral, she’s put in charge of fixing it. When she goes there, she finds the town charming and meets Jack Kelly, who designed the doll. She’s there to try and make a deal and help the town out. She and Jack hit it off at first, until he finds out who she is. Clare falls in love with the town and the people and comes up with a lot of cool ideas to help the town out, and soon finds herself in a sexual relationship with Jack, who has softened toward her. He knows she will be leaving soon, and they agree to keep it casual, and we know how that goes. When a misunderstanding takes place, Clare leaves in tears, and Jack decides to try and make a grand gesture to get her back. This is a heartwarming, fun Christmas novel, and you root for these two to be together. With a fun supporting cast, including Flo and a cute dog, this one is a perfect holiday read.
