Shady Pines near Chicago is the setting for this sixth and final novel (noooooo) in this series. A series of break-ins at businesses owned by women has the town in a panic. Lila, who owns a coffee shop, her boyfriend Jae, his older brother, who is a private detective, vow to get to the bottom of what is going on, along with her extended big family, especially after Hana Lee’s chocolate shop is broken into, she is injured and is the cousin of Jae, and her partner Blake dies. The investigation begins with a few possible suspects, a lot of food eaten, and a lot of coffee drinks. When Lila gets too close to the truth, it could be curtains for her. This is a fun series, with a lot of leading and supporting characters that make these books great. I only hope Mia changes her mind and continues writing these novels. We all need these characters in our lives. If this is indeed the last book, it goes out on a good note.
PS She includes recipes at the end of the book so you can enjoy some of the yummy foods in the novel.
