Harry Lancaster is retired, lost his wife two years ago and has a fractured hip. He lives in the neighborhood of Lakeview Estates, where nothing really happens, although he has his binoculars and watches his neighbors. He has a caregiver named Emma, who is engaged to a doctor. When Harry’s neighbor, Sue, calls begging for help, she says she’s been poisoned Emma rushes to her, and the police are called, but she is already dead. It’s ruled a suicide, but Harry and Emma don’t believe it, and decide to investigate on their own. They soon learn that a lot has been happening in the neighborhood, and that Sue was a nice person. They check in with the Detective in charge of the case, who warns them to stop, but they don’t and soon find themselves in front of the killer. This is one great novel. For fans of Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club series, this will be right up your alley. The characters of Harry and Emma have great chemistry together and make quite the team. This will make my top books of 2026 list! This one is not to be missed, and hopefully, there will be more adventures with these two.
