In Washington, D.C., it’s been a stormy night, and the next morning Detective Alex Cross leaves early to meet up with his partner, John Sampson, to investigate a burnt out car with a dead body in it, at a homeless camp. His wife Bree, leaves for work, and son Ali heads to school. Nana Mama is puttering around the house and late afternoon while outside falls and smacks her head on the concrete. Ali finds her, and she is rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Alex and John start their investigation, and soon there are other cars burned with dead people in them. Bree is also looking into the situation with a potential client that looks shady, and it could have something to do with the murders. Meanwhile, Nana Mama is doing better and insists on going home, and soon the aunts and Alex’s father show up. It all leads to shocking showdowns on two fronts, and Alex finds his life in danger, and also his families. This is the 36th novel in the series, and it’s another good one. This one is centered on family and Nana Mama and Alex’s brother Charlie. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
