A massive fire at an abandoned bullding in New York’s Spanish Harlem is deemed to be arson and almost kills a homeless man living there. Lincoln Rhyme is on the scene along with his police detective wife, Amelia Sachs. They soon run into police detective Desdemona Vale, a police detective from Long Island, who is looking into the death of a young woman. As they investigate, it seems the cases might be related. As clues are slowly found on the cases, it seems something bigger is going on, and it’s a race against time to stop whoever is behind the chaos going on, before it’s too late. This is another incredible novel. Author Jeffrey Deaver has written a tale with lots of clues, that is incredibly clever, and this novel is a page-turner. Long-time fans of the series will enjoy this 17th novel in the series.
