Stone Barrington is on his way to Los Angeles to meet up with his latest woman, Josie Hale. On his way out, Ben Bachetti, head of Centurion Pictures, calls him about an urgent meeting taking place. A rival company, Zelzah International, tried to make a hostile takeover, which didn’t happen. Ben wants them to buy his friend’s independent film company before Zelzah tries to take it over, angering Aldo Benson, the powerful owner of Zelzah, who is a ruthless man. While on the plane going out west, Stone learns Faith is engaged, and it turns out to be the man who is the former son-in-law of Aldo, who is also the grandfather of his late daughter’s son, and he wants him. He kidnaps Faith and tries to bribe her and then tries to kill her in a car accident. When Teddy Faye hears about this, he is in London, flies back to LA, and decides he is going to get to the bottom of everything that’s going on. It leads to a tense, thrilling finale. This is the best Stone novel that author Brett Battles has written. The story is page-turning, and the action is intense. Longtime fans will enjoy this one.
