The year is 1931, and Hitler and his party are making waves in Germany. He is also having an affair with his 23-year-old niece, Geli Raubal, in Munich. He is into some kinky stuff, and she has had it with him. She announces she is leaving, moving to Vienna, is in love with her vocal coach, who is a Jew, and is having his baby. Outraged, Hitler kills her and then makes it look like it was a suicide. Police Detective Thomas Bauer takes the case and doesn’t believe it was suicide, and starts an investigation, only to have the rug pulled out from under him, the case is taken away, and ruled a suicide. Never giving up on the case, he teams over the years with a journalist named Gerlich, and look for evidence against Hitler. Bauer tries many times over the years to take out Hitler and stop his madness, but never succeeds. In a side story, in the present day, American Professor, Eleanor Robbins, is given journals from Bauer and is on the hunt in Germany for evidence about what really happened back then with Ruabal, and a mysterious roll of film that is missing. and someone doesn’t want this ever getting out, and she finds herself in danger. Parts of the novel are based on real facts, and the rest is the imagination of the authors, and makes you wonder just how much different the world would be if Hitler was stopped before he came to power. This is one of those books you will not be able to put down.
