Solomon lives a quiet life in California, attending to public gardens, living in a small shack, and keeping to himself. He was once a feared hitman known as the African. having killed a lot of bad men and making blood money. He left the life ten years ago when he fell in love, got married and had a daughter, until tragedy struck, and he got back in the life. On this day at the gardens, he meets a young boy named Gaby, and sees when he notices two bad guys coming up fast on his family and bodyguards, and hears shots being fired. He grabs his gun and takes down the bad guys, but not until Gavy is left alone. He grabs the kid and flees, and learns the head of a Mexican cartel wants Gaby. They go on the run, Solomon has to kill more bad guys, and soon learns the exact reason Gaby is wanted, and decides he needs to take out the bad guy, and it leads to a shocking showdown. This is the fourth novel in this series, written by actor, producer, and director Eriq La Salle (E.R.), and it is an intense action-thriller. The character of Solomon is awesome, and we learn via flashback chapters about his life and what drives him to save Gaby. The story starts off fast and never lets up, and this is one you will not want to put down. A great end-of-summer novel.
