Clare Sutherland has been engaged to Elias Ashbury, who comes from a rich family, for three years now, who suddenly dies of an unknown illness. Still heartbroken, she accepts an invitation from his family, whom she has never met, to their island for a private funeral. At first, things are okay, but that changes when she starts noticing weird things about their house and island. She finds herself in danger just a day later, the family has a mysterious life on this island, praying to a strange god, and the only one who is telling Clare the truth is Ash, the brother of Elias, who risks his life to help her escape, with no luck. When a strange ceremony is taking place, Clare has to fight to save her life, and in the process, things change for this strange family. This is an intense novel right from the beginning. The horror and supernatural themes are top-notch, and this is one you will not be able to put down.
