Book Review: ‘Tom Clancy Pressure Depth: A Jack Ryan Jr. Novel’ By Jack Stewart

A ship is hijacked and later found in Micronesia, and the crew is murdered. Henley Associates is hired on an insurance claim, and Jack Ryan Jr. is leading the investigation. The Chinese are aware that their ship is there and want to collect what is there. A US naval team is in the area and discovers something on the bottom of the ocean, but are not sure what it is. The only thing they get is the name on the hull, Siren, and it is soon learned it is a Russian weapon, with nuclear warheads, sunk a long ago, and if detonated, would cause horrible damage. Jack Ryan Jr. is to lead a team to inspect the vessel and disarm it if possible. The Chinese also know about it and are on the way to try to capture it, and discharge the nukes. It turns into a battle on the floor of the ocean, where time is limited, and to stop the Chinese before it’s too late. Author Jack Stewart has done a masterful job with his first Ryan Jr. novel. The action is incredible, especially the last third of the book. Somewhere, I think Tom Clancy is smiling. I also give him major props for using Cary and Jad, two fun characters from previous books. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
