The year is 1884, and for Kat Holloway, who works as a cook for a rich society woman, it’s a time for change. She learns her friend Joanna and her family are moving 50 miles away, and that includes her daughter Grace, who lives with Joanna. She is also engaged to Daniel, and hopes to be married in a year. She also gets a space on Portebello Road to sell her bakery items. Most pressing right now is that Daniel is searching for his past, and a man says he has information, but he is found dead before Daniel can talk to him. He becomes the prime suspect, but is let go. Now the search is on for the killer and who Daniel is. With some serious sleuthing, Daniel and Kat get the information they need, and help bring down a group of criminals. This is another good book in the series, with a lot of story moving forward. The supporting characters are a hoot, and fans of this series will enjoy this one.
