The year is 1505, and Beatrice is in labor and dying, and a fairy offers her a chance to live forever, and she takes it. She wanders the streets over the years, trying to figure out what to do with her life. At anytime she can tell the fairy the deal is off, but she never does. Then she meets Oliver, in 1605, a time-traveler from the year 2202, and they hit it off. They meet again as the years go on, for 12 hours at a time, that is all he is allowed. Over the years, they had quite the adventures and fall for each other, even when it is many years between visits. She soon learns a shocking secret about him, never wants to say goodbye, and finally one visit, he doesn’t show up. Since she can’t die, she catches up with him in his time and makes a shocking sacrifice for him. This is one of the best debut novels I have ever read, and one of the best books of the year, and certainly is the love story of the year. This one is not to be missed. Warning: you will need a box of tissues by the time you finish it.
