Cal still hasn’t gotten over his ex, Nicole; they were together a long time, until they broke up 18 months ago. When she calls him and asks him to come over to help her, he is there quickly. In her attic, of the house left to her, is a stuffed goose, which is illegal under most laws. Since he owns an antiques shop, she figures he can help. When his partner leaves on a sudden vacation, his niece Annie comes to help out, and he’s not happy about it. When she discovers the goose in his apartment, they move it to the storage unit, and continue to try and figure out what to do with it, until it vanishes when a shipment is picked up. As they search for it, they fall for each other, have sex, and Annie makes it clear she’s not looking for a relationship. When he finally gets the goose back and learns it’s history, he is relieved, until he learns Annie has left him, and he now has to figure out if she is who he truly wants. A fun, romantic love story, with flashbacks on the history of the goose. Watching these two leads open up and fall in love is heartwarming. Another perfect summer beach read.
