Vera Stein is 40 and works as an assistant to Brody Turner, a Hollywood star, and is considered to be a himbo. She also has special benefits with him. Her dream was always to be a screenwriter, which has not happened yet. When she finds out he is going to replace her with someone younger, Vera quits and goes and stays with her grandmother, Ruby, a former horror star, in Palm Springs, at her retirement community. She is shocked when she runs into Elias Buckley, who is living there with his dauughter who is 15. They have a past; and on a dare, they were once married, and quickly got an annulment. When Vera gets a job there, they are working close together, and sparks fly between them. Vera takes stock of her life and sees that this could be a new beginning for her, and now she just has to figure out if it is what she wants. A delightfully fun novel, with great supporting characters, lol moments, and a perfect setting for these characters. A perfect summer beach read.
