Owen Pierce is a Miami lawyer who is great in the courtroom and has a beautiful house on the water. What nobody knows is that he is a top killer for a secret organization called the Council, a group made up of people who take out bad people around the world and are above the law. They know everything, and there’s nothing that gets past them. Owen was recruited after his daughter was kidnapped and murdered. The police and FBI never found the killer, but the Council did. They offered to give Owen the info in exchange for him joining the group. Since then Owen, and his group of 3 have had many successful kills. On the latest assisgnment they’re to take out a drug dealer, and it turns out they were set up, and Owen makes a deadly mistake. He soon learns the Council is not what it seems, and Owen and his group are running from them, and the Council will soon learn what a mistake they made dealing with Owen Pierce. This is a great action-packed thriller that starts off fast and never lets up. Author Matthew Betley is at the top of his game with this novel. I only hope we can have more adventures with Owen and his crew. This is one of the best novels of the year.
