Sunny Randall is having dinner with her best friend, Spike, trying to figure out what to do about her almost engagement to her ex, Richie. She loves him and wants to be with him, but the living situation is a problem. He lives on the Jersey shore, and she’s in the Boston area. They’re interrupted by bestselling author, Melanie Joan Hall, who has a crisis and wants help from Sunny. She has written her memoir, and an early review on a book site by someone named Book Babe was bad; this reviewer has never liked anything by Melanie. The night before, Melanie got drunk and wrote a very crude reply to the post, and then took it down quickly, but not before it went viral. She wants Sunny to find the person so she can make a public apology. Things only get worse when Melanie spirals out of control and is cancelled. When Sunny finally figures out who Book Babe is, it comes as a shock, and then that person is shot to death, and Melanie is the main suspect. Sunny works hard to find the killer, and finds her own life in danger when she learns what is going on. This is the 13th novel in the series, and it’s another good one. A good look at the world of publishing and cancel culture. Sunny is one of my favorite characters, along with her besty Spike, his assistante Blake and her cute dog Rosie. Fans will enjoy this newest adventure.
