The setting is WIllow Bluffs, New Jersey, where Lacey Langdon lives on the glorious Vander Horn Estate, with her great aunt, Tessa, who lives there part-time, who is a soap opera star, and has a place in Manhattan. Tessa recently sold the estate, except for the carriage house, and a parcel of land, to men who want to build on the land. Lacey has a printing business in town and is friends with Derek, a city councilman. When Glenn Hartman, another council member, is found dead at the bottom of the cliff on the estate, Lacey teams up with Derek to find the killer. This death brings back memories for Tessa of a family tale from a long time ago, and then strange things start to happen with the family history, which puts both Lacey’s and Tessa’s lives in danger. This is a fun, soapy, twisty small-town murder mystery. It’s the first novel in this new series, and it’s off to a strong start.
