The setting is 1919, in England, after WWI, and there are no signs of Fairies, nor have there been in over 100 years. Mouse Dunne has inherited her late uncle’s home, Thistlemarsh, which was at one time fairy-blessed. Now it is in ruins, and she soon learns that there are conditions on her keeping the house. In the next month, she must fix it up or get married, or her horrible cousin gets the house. Mouse runs into a Fairy, Thornwood, and she makes a deal with him, for one of her fingers, he will fix the house up for her. The two work together and there’s a spark between them, but something is wrong at the house. There is magic that keeps undoing with he is doing, and they go on a search to find and undo it. When the month is up, all the repairs have been made, but the lawyer finds a small issue, and she loses the house, or does she? A plan is hatched, a devious plot is revealed, a betrayal takes place, and Mouse comes up with a plan to hopefully get her house back once and for all. A fun, magical novel that keeps you reading along. The chemistry between the two leads is off the charts, and the supporting characters add a lot to the story. A perfect spring novel.
