The Midnight Show debuted over 40 years ago; it’s like an SNL-type show, and it cast a bunch of comedians, who would go on to instant fame. One of the cast members Lillian Martin, died a couple of years later under mysterious circumstances. Now, Rolling Stone’s reporter, Madeline Cohen, is doing a story on the death and is talking to all the people from back then, cast members, producers and anyone else associated with the show. She learns all about the sex, drugs and atmosphere of the show back in the day, the romances, the fights and battles for airtime on the show. The book is written in a unique way, it is in interview, emails, journals and notes format. What Madeline learns is shocking, and it leads to a climadtic reveal. This is an intense read about what life was like during the early 80s for women in showbiz. It’s one of those books you don’t want to put down.
