At 32, Cece Downing is starting over. She was let go from her job as an actuary and broke up with her longtime boyfriend, Jonathan. She has moved to New London, Connecticut, and has gotten a job working on an oyster boat. She loves the job, even if she’s having a tough time with one of the male employees. She has also met the hunky Morgan, who lives a few houses down from her. Everything should be going okay until she thinks Morgan has a girlfriend, she almost loses her job, her ex will not leave her alone, and she finds out her parents have separated. Cece is a fighter and is not going to let anything get her down, and she works to fix the things in her life, including fighting for a new oyster bay to be built, against the wishes of a lot of people in town. This is a great character-driven novel about one woman starting over. Watching her reinvent her life is heartwarming and fun. A perfect summer beach read.
