Oliver Beech is a sommelier, one of the best in the country, until Covid hit, and she lost her sense of taste. She tried to wing it for her job at a high-end restaurant in New York and was fired after it was revealed. She has flown to Paris for an interview with Chef Jacques, who owns a very popular restaurant. When she gets there, and they start tasting wine, she smells something funny in the bottle that is opened, and after he takes a taste, he drops dead, he was poisoned. Fearing for her life, she soon meets the Paris Neighborhood Watch, who believe she is innocent, and band together to find the killer. It’s a small community, everyone knows everyone and their business, and they’re on the case to solve the murder. This is a fun, delish novel, with a sterling cast of quirky characters, who all care for each other and the truth. Fans of small neighborhood murder mysteries will enjoy this one a lot.
