Marge North is the Sheriff of Sherman County, Wisconsin, and her son Eli is her deputy, along with a dispatcher, they’re the entire force in this small town. Marge gets a call asking for help finding a woman named Trinity, who we learn earlier in the story has a drug problem and was trying to get into rehab. At the trailer where she lives, a lot of blood is found, some drugs, and no sign of Trinity. Then FBI agent Alyssa Mason shows up with a DEA agent and learn that Trinity had gotten clean, and was working undercover as an informant for the DEA, looking for a big-time drug dealer, possibly a man named Charles Dawson, who has been on the radar, but never anything to bring him in. As they investigate, they find things are not what they seem, people have secrets, and finding the truth may not be that easy. A great crime thriller, with well-written characters, and a story that you want to keep reading. Author Pease shines with this novel.
