Jane Whitefield has a secret life she helps people escape their lives if something bad has happened, gets them new identities, and sends them to live their lives. Right now, things are quiet for her. She is expecting her first child with her Doctor husband, and on this day is involved in a car accident, and the baby comes early, and is a healthy baby girl. When a 16-year-old girl arrives on her doorstep, after she killed a man trying to rape her, Jane agrees to help her. What Jane doesn’t know is that an old enemy, a Russian woman she left for dead once before, is back in the country, has a hit squad and is coming for her. They go to her last known address, and Jane learns they are there, and she and her family take off. When she learns they know the name of one of her helpers, she flies to LA and is captured, which is a bad thing for the bad guys. She will use all her wits to overcome them and end this vendetta against her one way or another. This is the 10th and final novel in the series, as author Thomas Perry has passed away. This is my first time reading one of these books, and I loved it. The character of Jane is badass and is a pleasure to read. Longtime fans of these novels will love this final book.
