Jack Biddle is a cop in Oregon, and he is dirty. He owes lots of money to a lot of bad guys and has no idea how to pay them back. While hiding out in the mountains, he sees a van crash on black ice and goes to check on him. His name is Robert Green, and he has stolen money, jewelry and other assorted stuff from the safety deposit boxes from the law firm he works at. He planned to split it with his sister, Penny and their cousin. Jack finds him dead and takes all the money and boxes with the expensive swag. Penny never hears from him and has no idea what happened to him or the money. Fifteen years later ‘Robert’ is blackmailing people, and getting money based on what he has left from the safety deposit boxes, and each request by mail contains Robert’s DNA. Jack is behind this and has quite a fortune hidden away. He is now chief, still working with bad guys, and now someone is on to him. Mitch Diamond has teamed up with Penny to figure out where ‘Robert’ is and to collect on what is left of the loot. It soon becomes a game of cat and mouse between them, and who survives and who dies. A twisty, fun novel that is enjoyable to read. Fans of Goldberg will enjoy this one a lot.
